He acquired the degree of M.Sc(Hons) in 1980 from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad; as well as Diploma (L.G) in 1993 from Foreign Ministry Institute, Denmark. An agriculturist, who functioned as Leader of Opposition in Zila Council, Khanewal throughout 1991-93. He was first elected as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab throughout 1993-96 and also executed the tasks of Minister for Cooperatives. He was again elected as Member Punjab Assembly throughout 2002-07 as well as functioned as Minister for Food and Literacy & Non-Formal Basic Education.
